Renting College Textbook has become a regular practice for college students these days. Since the cost of buying new text books are too expensive. The increase of textbook costs is due to the quality of higher education. There is no big difference in buying a new textbook or renting a text book. Both are same in the content but different in cost. College students often go for the option to rent a textbook. College textbook rental has disadvantages also. Say for example if a student chooses a textbook rentals option, each and every time they need to pay which sometimes may cross the cost of the textbook. Some Colleges earns decent money too due to the “rent a textbook” concept. Another big disadvantage in going for a renting a textbook is few colleges allow students only to rent maximum of 2 books. According to one survey conducted in the year 2006 by NACS, some colleges earn a net income of 7.7 %. This is a kind of double the profit of buying a textbook. But sometimes advantages are also clearly seen in renting a textbook like, rising cost of textbook to the extreme which is not affordable for few students.
